[Interview] Ashley McAlpin, Demand Marketer of FormAssembly

Every week, we share the story of an inspiring Remote Worker. Today, we're are super excited to share Ashley's story.

1.- What is your name, role, and what does your company do?

I'm Ashley McAlpin, Demand Marketing Manager at FormAssembly, we specialize in web forms and data collection.

2.- What do you consider the biggest benefits of a remote team?

Being a part of the FormAssembly remote team means being engaged in a culture that encourages flexibility and cultivates an environment of success. We work the way we work best and that looks different for all of us. We believe that if we have hired the best talent, it doesn't matter where or how they work, because they are the best of the best.

3.- What traits do you look for in candidates for a remote job?

We are looking for hard-working, talented, dedicated and passionate people to join our team (oh, ya— and you must be genuinely nice!).



4.- Why is your company working remotely?

We believe in hiring the best talent—no matter where they may be located.

5.- What is your hiring process for remote workers?

We follow a very traditional approach to hiring. Phone interviews>Video interviews>Project>Hire.

Then we'll set up a video call and tell you more about Launch Potato and the role!

6.- What’s the best piece of advice you can share with an applicant?

Working remotely takes dedication, passion and commitment. Make sure that you are ready to focus outside of a brick and mortar environment!

7.- Do your remote team members meet in person?

Our "headquarters" is located in Bloomington, Indiana. We meet up for an annual team reunion there each Fall.

8.- How do you cultivate company’s culture in a remote work environment?

Our culture is fun, challenging, engaging and passionate. As a team, we chat throughout the day, making sure that we are staying connected—not only to our projects but also to each other!

9.- What are your favorite tools for remote team communication?

As a team, we use FlowDock to stay connected throughout the day. We also frequent apps like Google Hangouts, Asana, BaseCamp and more!

10.- Why did you decide to start working remotely?

I love what I do. I am passionate about marketing. However, I found that I was becoming complacent in my traditional corporate position. I wanted to grow and excel, but I wanted to do so on my terms. Having the flexibility to work where I am has given me a rejuvenated love for my career, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
